My best friends birthday weekend was well underway on it’s second day, in the great city of Sheffield. After planning a well structured weekend, meant each day was used to its highest potential, with rock climbing, alcohol, shopping and lots of food all tightly packed into 3 autumnal days.
Mud Crab Diner, which is situated on the busy street of Ecclesall Road offers a smart/casual vibe with a wide variety of food and drinks. The 2nd Best Cheeseburger caught my eye immediately on their oddly confusing menu.
((Thick & juicy, double ground flat iron steak burger with mature cheddar, lettuce, tomato, aioli, club sauce and pickle))
I seem to be subconsciously eating a lot of steak burgers recently. I did have certain opinions about them, but that seems to be turning around.
Everything about this burger spoke upperclass, the sauces, the bread, the quality and taste of the steak patty. This burger really was well prepared with a multitude of flavours and textures that I’d never come across before, which at this point really makes the difference.
The 2nd Best Cheeseburger is more like the 8th Best Cheeseburger, but good effort though. Burger Rating; 7 out of 10

My personal conquest to find the most delicious burger is very much ongoing and getting very interesting. While attending the Tramlines festival in Sheffield, myself and 3 of my close friends ventured out to the well renowned Red’s True Barbecue.
After being swiftly seated we didn’t need much time to order as our devilish stomach’s took over. I bravely went for the ‘The Donut Burger’- ‘Two patties, melted cheese, smoked peppered bacon, crispy onions and Dirty sauce. All between two sweet glazed donuts. Served with frickles.’ All but the ‘glazed donuts’ sounded just perfect, but my curiosity definitely got the better of me and before I knew it I was staring down at what was possibly the greatest burger creation I had ever seen.
Handling this Frankenstein of a burger was extremely treacherous, with 2 hands being in play 100% of the time. There were 1 million and 1 flavours in each singular bite with the help from numerous sauces, the cheese and the donuts which kept you wanting more. The wanting more staggered to a holt as you fell close to the end of the burger, which was a 100% down to the donut bun, sticky, sickly but unbelievably morish.
This is a definite recommendation for the future, a true innovation for burger creations. A little pricey but this is 2016 don’t forget. Burger rating; a easy 8 out of 10.

Traveling across the country to visit my close friend while he completes his education in the University of Sheffield is quite a rare opportunity but not one I’ll shy away from.
The evening fell upon Sheffield, so this meant it was around the time to ventre through the beautful city to Sheffield’s Student Union bar, Bar One. Hunger and the Buy One Get One Free voucher which was floating freely about the bar was the deciding vote to get a burger. Having 7 different beef burgers to choose from, did make it an interesting decision but I finally went with the ‘Black and Gold’. The contents were, Monterey Jack, aged cheddar sauce, smoked streaky bacon, jalapeños and ranch sauce, sounds good huh?
If so, you would be correct. It’s contents were different but they were sensational together. It was filled with sauces, which is something I do enjoy but i would say they did include many jalapeños, alittle too many for my liking but I should expect so really. Overall it was thoroughly enjoyed, the burger was cooked well, the bread was soft and altogether not too overwhelming, a lovely burger.
