Today’s choice of restaurant was The Font, a very popular bar favourite amongst students, primarily down to their wide and diverse range of cheap cocktails. But on this visit I would just be dining.
Taking into account The Fonts quirky cocktails, their menu wasn’t much of a shock. Displaying a lot of interesting creations, not just with the burgers! But inadvertently my eyes drew to a burger named ‘Burgernator’ and the ingredients were, ‘6oz beef burger topped with smoked bacon, onion rings and our beer cheese sauce’. Sound delicious doesn’t it?
The burger arrived in an American style red basket, which I do enjoy as not many restaurants present their burgers in such a way and the burger was just as unique. All of the primary ingredients worked well together, except for the beer cheese sauce, which seemed to be doused throughout each layer, which then killed a lot of the other flavours off. Lastly, the onion rings which topped the burger were considerably chewy, I put this down to them being undercooked but this didn’t necessarily ruin the burger for myself.
Overall, a pleasurable burger but I’ll be deciding on another one of their creations on my next visit. I rate the ‘Burgernator’ at a 5 out of 10.
